Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do you cover indirect costs?

No. The money is given to applicant directly.

  • What if I can’t sumit my application by the due date?

Circumstances warranting a late application submission will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Please email info@pancreatic.org.

  • Can a junior investigator apply?

Yes. As long as there is a senior investigator to sign-off, junior investigators are encouraged to apply.

  • Can one principal investigator live in the US and one principal investigator live outside of the US?

Yes, one Principal Investigator can live outside of the United States.

  • Can I have more than one principal investigator listed on the grant application?

Yes, you can have a Co-PI, but one key contact person is responsible for the seed grant if awarded.

  • Do I need to have IRB approval prior to submitting the grant application?

If it is a clinical project, IRB protocol approval is essential and required before the seed grant can be awarded.

  • Can I apply if my collaborator is not in the US?

Yes. We are affiliated with the European Pancreatic Association. The money goes directly to you, so you have the ability to distribute it to collaborators as you need.

  • Can residents apply for a grant?

No. You must have completed two years of training in pancreatic cancer research in any academic or private institution in the United States.

  • I am an assistant professor applying for a seed grant. Who is the correct person to provide my sponsor’s letter of support?

The correct person is the Chair of the Department or the Division Chief.

  • Can the seed grant funds be used to fund things such as salaries, travel, capital equipment and supplies?

Yes, the funds can be used for those purposes. The budget allocation and distribution is decided by the investigators.

  • What is the minimum percentage effort for the PI? And for other participants?

The percent effort by the PI and other participating investigators is decided by the PI, within the budget provided by the seed grant.

  • Do you allow for subcontractors?

Yes, the seed grant does allow a budget for subcontractors but needs to be justified.

  • Do you need to submit CV’s or bio-sketches for the entire team or just the PI?

    Just the PI

  • Who is the award made out to?

The award is made out to the Institution where the investigator works and not to the individual.

  • I cannot find the AC-2 form online. Where can I find this?

The AC-2 form is equivalent to the animal committee approval number. Please provide the approval number and date of approval with your application.

  • What types of mice can we use for our research?

Commercially available human cell lines (ATCC), experimental animals or transgenic mice that you have developed can be used for this seed grant program.
