Hirshberg UCLA Catalyst Grant Program in Pancreatic Cancer Research

The Hirshberg Foundation is pleased to announce the inaugural 2025 cycle of its new grant program in pancreatic cancer research at the UCLA campus. This grant mechanism will fund 2 UCLA investigators for the term of 3 years, providing $75,000 per year in direct costs. The multi-year grants will allow investigators to pursue longer-term initiatives, develop resources, and establish collaborations more effectively. Stable and predictable funding increases the potential for impact and will build a stronger relationship among UCLA investigators in pancreatic cancer research.

Application and review process

Applicants should submit a one-page letter of intent, a Specific Aims page, and a biosketch. The letter should outline how the proposed research will advance UCLA-based collaborations and facilitate the building of a campus-wide network in pancreatic cancer research toward large federal grants such as P01s or SPOREs.

The applications will be reviewed by a 3-member committee selected from members of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Hirshberg Foundation. Based on the initial reviews, 2 investigators will be invited to submit full applications, which will be evaluated and approved for funding by the committee and the Foundation leadership.

Collaborations and multi-investigator proposals are encouraged; however, each application must be submitted by a designated contact Principal Investigator (PI), who will assume responsibility for the submission and for the work proposed in the application.

UCLA investigators can also apply for the 2025 seed grant program of the Hirshberg Foundation. See https://pancreatic.org/research/seed-grant-program/.
