New Free Program Offers Support and Practical Tools for Cancer Caregivers in California

Personalized support, education, and resources to help caregivers navigate the challenges of cancer

March 16, 2026

Caring for a loved one diagnosed with cancer can be both meaningful and overwhelming. Many caregivers find themselves juggling medical appointments, insurance paperwork, work responsibilities, parenting, and household needs — all while providing emotional support during treatment.

To help caregivers navigate these challenges, Triage Cancer has partnered with California Dialogue on Cancer to launch a free program for caregivers across California. The initiative offers education, practical tools, and personalized support designed to help caregivers feel more informed, prepared, and connected.

A Comprehensive Support Program for Caregivers

This new wrap-around program addresses the real-world challenges caregivers face when supporting someone with cancer. Participants will gain access to expert-led education, practical resources, and individualized guidance to help them better manage both the emotional and logistical aspects of caregiving.

Live Webinar Series

Caregivers can attend a series of free online workshops focused on practical strategies they can apply immediately:

Practical Guides for Legal and Financial Questions

Participants will receive access to educational guides developed by Triage Cancer that explain common legal and financial issues that arise after a cancer diagnosis. These resources break down complex topics into clear, easy-to-understand information so caregivers can better understand their rights and make informed decisions.

📘 Available Guides

Cancer Rights for Caregivers — Understand your legal protections and options as a caregiver.

Practical Guide to Parenting with Cancer — Navigate the unique challenges of parenting during a cancer journey.

Support for Families with Children

For caregivers raising children, the program also offers resources to help families stay connected and supported during a difficult time. Through Bright Spot Network programs, participants may receive two children’s books: The Invisible String and Tiny Boat at Sea. There are also three art activities designed specifically for children in families facing cancer.

These tools help caregivers create moments of connection and understanding for children during a challenging time.

One-on-One Legal and Financial Navigation

Caregivers in California can also access the Legal & Financial Navigation Program, a free service that provides individualized guidance to help families better understand and manage the practical challenges that often accompany a cancer diagnosis.

🤝 What This Program Covers

Health insurance navigation
Managing medical bills
Employment rights & benefits
Disability insurance options
Estate planning decisions
Free Certified Financial Planner

Cancer impacts not only patients, but also the people who support them every day. By offering trusted education, practical resources, and personalized guidance, this program aims to empower caregivers with the tools they need to navigate the challenges of caregiving.
