Margaret Tempero, MD to present Prevention and Surveillance for Pancreatic Cancer at our 20th Annual Symposium on Pancreatic Cancer

February 9, 2026

The Hirshberg Foundation is thrilled to announce that Margaret Tempero, MD, will be joining us at the 20th Annual Symposium on Pancreatic Cancer to share insights on Prevention and Surveillance for Pancreatic Cancer.
In this presentation, Dr. Tempero will describe the current role for screening in hereditary predisposition, studies in progress to determine who else should get screened, new tests on the horizon, and possibilities for prevention.

Dr. Margaret Tempero is a gastrointestinal oncologist and the Director of the UCSF Pancreas Center, Director of the Cancer Early Detection and Interception initiative, and Leader of the Pancreas Cancer Program at the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. Previously, she was the founding Deputy Director of the Cancer Center and Chief of Hematology and Oncology at UCSF.
In research, Tempero was a pioneer in applying radioactively tagged antibodies for cancer therapy. She has led national and international research projects on gastrointestinal cancers, including pancreatic cancer. Tempero has held many national and international leadership positions, including President of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, President of the American Pancreatic Association, and Editor in Chief of the Journal of the National Comprehensive Network.
At UCSF, she is the Rombauer Family Distinguished Professor in Pancreas Cancer Clinical and Translational Science. Prior to joining UCSF, she was Deputy Director of the Buffet Cancer Center at the University of Nebraska.
This topic is highly relevant to our pancreatic cancer community, and we are honored to have Dr. Tempero speak at the 20th Annual Symposium.
